FAQs
Short, honest answers to the questions people ask first.
Questions
Is anything built or secured?
Not yet. The center is in its planning phase and its main location is being finalized.
- Nothing is built.
- There is no land, building, lease, funding, legal entity, partnership or launch license yet.
- No organization has agreed to anything in writing.
- Every drawing on this site is an early design, not an engineered plan.
Will rockets launch from Bethlehem?
No. Bethlehem sits inside busy airspace near a commercial airport, with dense population in every direction, so a local spaceport rates very low. Educational flight work would use licensed ranges and club fields elsewhere, through others (see launch feasibility).
Can I donate, invest or reserve something?
Not now. The center is not incorporated or registered as a charity, so it accepts no donations, pledges, investments, sponsorships, launch reservations or construction commitments. Any change will be announced only after registration, with the details public.
Is this a Lehigh University project?
No. A Lehigh student proposes it, but Lehigh University has not been asked to host it and has not endorsed it or shown interest in it. Lehigh land appears on this site only as places studied from public documents.
Is Aethon paying for this?
No. Aethon, an early-stage ocean exploration company founded by the same person, has not established, funded or committed to the center (see Aethon connection).
Where would it be?
Nothing is selected: every site is still “studied, not selected”. The working idea, an assessment, is a walkable public front door in South Bethlehem, near Third Street, and a research home at Lehigh's Mountaintop Campus only if Lehigh invites it. Lehigh has not been asked to host it (see site alternatives).
When would it open?
2030 is an ambitious target for an early milestone (a registered nonprofit, a hosted or leased program space and free public programs), not for a campus. A full campus has no promised date, and orbital launch is not proposed for Bethlehem.
How can I help?
Today, by sharing knowledge: corrections to the research, local history, ideas for free programs. Write via the contact page. Volunteer roles will open with the first pilot programs.
Does this site collect my data?
No forms, no accounts, no tracking and no database. The interactive map loads street tiles from OpenFreeMap only if you press its button. Email you send goes to the proposer's inbox.
Who wrote this?
The plan is David Fischbarg's. The research and drawings were prepared with AI assistance and have not yet been reviewed by an independent expert. Outside facts carry a numbered source where one was found, or a label such as unverified or not found where none was.
